The Crew Resource Management WG has been in existence since 1992 as an aviation industry association dedicated to improving flight safety by introducing Human Factors techniques such as Crew Resource Management. As such it held conferences as early as 1994 on Resourcing HF training, Aviation Stress, and CRM Recurrent Training. In 1995 the CRM-WG members set up a dedicated Human Factors group (HFG) under the Learned Societies Board of the Royal Aeronautical Society. However the CRM-WG continued as a support service to facilitate multi-party conferences involving the HFG and other organizations involved in hosting, catering or collaborating on programme speakers. These have included on different occasions Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, the Royal Aeronautical Society, UK CAA, the Rail Safety Standards Board, the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and others.
