Welcome to the CRM Working Group

This is the website of the aviation industry Crew Resource Management Working Group (CRM-WG).

The site is intended to support the charitable work of other groups, associations and organizations who need to collaborate on funded Human Factors projects such as conferences and training materials.

The CRM-WG has no remit other than to provide resources for other groups engaged in Human Factors research and advocacy, does not operate at a profit, has no long-term funding of its own, and does not support commercial activities except as required to allow charitable projects to reach a successful conclusion.

It is primarily structured to encourage inter-group collaboration by providing project-based financial support for the distribution of training and research materials and conference registration services.

But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect. About the CRM-WG

The Crew Resource Management Working Group has been in existence since 1992 as an aviation industry association dedicated to improving flight safety by introducing Human Factors techniques such as Crew Resource Management. As such it held conferences as early as 1994 on Resourcing HF training, Aviation Stress, and CRM Recurrent Training.

In 1995 the CRM-WG members set up a dedicated Human Factors group (HFG) under the Learned Societies Board of the Royal Aeronautical Society. However the CRM-WG continued as a support service to facilitate multi-party conferences involving the HFG and other organizations involved in hosting, catering or collaborating on programme speakers. These have included on different occasions Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, the Royal Aeronautical Society, UK CAA, the Rail Safety Standards Board, the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and others.

For a list of previous conferences many or most of which were supported by the CRM-WG, please see the RAeS HF Group site link below. This contains a wealth of useful material from 1994 onward:
