With the reintroduction of Beavers into the UK, the rewilding of the Scottish Highlands underway
and mink coats falling out of fashion, is the future of small mammals in Britain safer than the
same time twenty years ago, or do we still have a long path ahead of us to the accepted goal of
every mammal having access to indoor plumbing and modern healthcare?
Venue:
Boat 1, the River Mole, Horley, Surrey, RH6 D0G
Time:
03:00 - 07:00 (daylight may offend some of our nocturnal guests)
Directions
From the Longbridge Roundabout, take the Eastern exit onto Brighton Rd.
Continue roughly 100 meters, and turn right into the Texaco Horley forecourt.
Purchasing a small quantity of rasins or nuts will go far towards your being able to feign
being a legitimate customer who isn't merely seeking to leave their car on a forecourt for a nearby
Mammals conference.
Once parking has been dealt with, cross the road to the opposite side and turn left, back towards
the Longbridge roundabout. When the river mole is in view, surmount the barrier and continue carefully
down the bank. Successfully imitating a duck or squirrel cry will alert the helmsman to the delegate's
presence on the riverbank, and the Wildlife Trust's house-boat will shortly be in view.
Please be careful climbing aboard as we will not be providing buoyancy aids to attendees - they are your own responsibility.
Map:
Please note, if you are a water vole, or similar water-borne mammal, who wishes to attend in person, we suggest approaching our conference boat from the bow; please stay well away from the stern of the ship. We accept no liability for propeller-induced lascerations, loss of limb or fur.
